Due to the needs of the service, a full driving licence is desirable.
This is more than a job; it’s a career that supports people to live life to the full.
We are looking for a resilient and friendly Support Worker to join a team working alongside people with autism encouraging them to live as independently as possible and to be part of their local community. As a Support Worker you will promote positive health and well-being of the people that you support, enabling them to have a meaningful life and be involved in a range of activities chosen by the person supported.
At Autism Initiatives we provide specialist services tailored to each individual. Experience is not essential, but a genuine passion to making a difference to the lives of people with autism, as well as a positive attitude, is key to being successful in this role.
You will be supporting a gentleman on a 2:1 basis around his daily personal care routines, promoting independence in his home and assisting with all aspects of his daily routines.
The gentleman has a mobility car which he accesses the community in and enjoys long drives and walks around local parks. He also enjoys watching DVD’s, listening to music, playing with musical sensory toys and visiting Morrison’s café.
In return, we will provide you with ongoing training and development, including supporting you to obtain your Diploma Level 2 qualification. Given the nature of this role, successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, the cost of which will be met by Autism Initiatives.
This is a truly rewarding role, with the opportunity for you to develop your skills and knowledge and fulfil your career aspirations.
Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic we continue to prioritise the safety of our staff and people with autism; we are working together to make sure that we reduce risk of infection and support everybody’s wellbeing as we go through this challenging time.
At the moment, our interviews are being conducted remotely to minimise risk and ensure we are adhering to government guidelines. Autism Initiatives provide staff with appropriate PPE to ensure the safety of our staff and people with autism and reduce the risk of infection.
From October 2021 following Parliamentary approval and a subsequent 16 week grace period, anyone working in a CQC registered care home in England for residents requiring nursing or personal care, must have had 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, unless they have a medical exemption. Please do call our Recruitment Team on 0151 932 2242, if you would like to chat to us further about this.
* These vacancies are advertised in line with Sub Paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of The Equality Act 2010 as there is an occupational requirement.
